| "A Voice Of Reason"
14 months after Jerry Lynn requested his release from TNA, October 3rd, Power Slam Magazine interviewed him, asking about the past, present and future of wrestling as well as Jerry's own future. Issue # 172 shared the 1st half of that interview and Issue # 173 contained the 2nd half so be sure to order your own copy of these to read "A Voice Of Reason," the most up-to-date views of the New 'FN' Show! PS Editor, Fin Martin takes Jerry from his reason(s) for leaving TNA, what it was like working in TNA as a wrestler and road agent, his view of ROH and it's new rising stars, and whether or not Jerry will keep going. Will he? His career has spanned 20 years now and he tells Martin what is in his future, and why. First topic was his premiere match with ROH in June, 2008, the fans reaction and some misconceptions of his match September 20th in Philly. Jerry shares his views on Nigel McGuinness, (his first opponent in ROH) how ROH compares to WCW and how difficult it is to earn a living on the Indy circuit. Jerry next answers questions about the early days of TNA (building it from the ground up) and why it failed to bring in viewers at the beginning. Also, the reason TNA's original financing was taken over by Panda Corp. and the way TNA handled it, i.e., the way it affected the wrestlers. What Jerry did to keep it from having a negative impact on his life? The high points of his time in TNA-some you might expect and some you might not. He recalls vividly his first night and other experiences in TNA. Jerry explains that as a road agent he was there to teach and help other wrestlers grow in this business. Not one who threw up his hands and gave up, at times he was quite vocal when dealing with these issues, not taking it easy on them at all. Not the popular route with the guys, but he did his best to do what the company told him to do. He also gives the reason for becoming a road agent-the injury, the cause of the injury (who and why) and the fact that it is that way with many wrestlers today. "They're out there living their dream or whatever it is." In the second half he shares the only way he was able to have the surgery that kept him from sitting out for at least 9 months. Reacting to Jeff Jarrett saying Sting held back the younger talent in WCW as well as in TNA in September, Jerry asks who really is to blame for holding back the younger guys in TNA. He also shares why the younger talent is so frustrated with TNA management. Jerry talks about how his surgery was handled by TNA, who TNA would pay for and whose surgery it wouldn't pay for given where/when the injuries were suffered. Jerry has suffered many! Why did Jerry leave TNA and how did it come about? Jerry candidly talks about the 2004 departure as well as his requesting his release in 2007. What does Jerry do to keep in incredible shape for a 45-year old wrestler? Does he get a big payday each time he wrestles or is he making it day to day like most of us? How long will Jerry continue to wrestle? Be sure you read this interview in Issues 172 and 173 for the answers to these questions and more. Courtesy of PowerSlam Magazine |
